Here at BNP Paribas Personal Finance we always play to win, and our 2019 Leadership Scrum was no exception.

The annual event, which was held at the University of Warwick Business School, took place in mid-January and focused on collaboration and learning. It offered a great opportunity to bring our leaders together, ensuring they are fully equipped with all the knowledge they need to contribute to the ongoing success of our company.

A key part of the event saw an innovative business simulation game, created for us by Burley Consulting, being played. Based around the idea of developing a business plan for a retail finance company, the game was designed to get our colleagues thinking about the importance of working as one team, with a focus on three key behaviours: collaboration, problem solving and managing risk

Of course, the day offered a great chance for us to look back on some of our biggest achievements from 2018. Last year saw some incredible successes, and the team looked back and reflected on key moments, such as our extended agreement with electronics retail giant Dixons Carphone and our partnership with England rugby legend Lawrence Dallaglio and his charity Dallaglio RugbyWorks.

We understand that all our colleagues contribute to the success of our business, and that it’s key to engage them by sharing our vision and strategy. For this reason, a major part of the Leadership Scrum concentrated on our key areas of focus for 2019.

By clearly communicating our goals for the next year, we were able to get our colleagues thinking about how their individual roles contribute to the greater plan and allowed them to consider the ways in which they can work together to improve our offer to our partners and customers.

Our CEO Stephen Hunt even took to the stage to reveal that we’re on track to double the size of our business by 2020 – an amazing achievement, we’re sure you’ll agree.

Following the event, Stephen Hunt said: “As a fast-growing company, it’s extremely important for us to ensure that all our colleagues understand our vision for growth and the importance of working as one team.

“Our annual Leadership Scrum is the perfect opportunity to bring all our leaders together, helping them to think about the bigger picture and enabling them to find out more about the business. It’s also a great way to learn new skills whilst having a bit of fun.”
