At BNP Paribas Personal Finance, we believe that we all have a responsibility to treat our environment with respect, and our 'What's my Impact' initiative (an engagement and awareness programme linked to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals) has seen us take steps to improve our carbon footprint.

As part of our efforts to reduce our environmental impact, in October last year we banished single-use cups from our offices in both Belfast and Solihull, replacing them with reusable alternatives.

In just one year, the removal of these disposable nuisances from our vending machines and water coolers will stop nearly 230,000 cups from spending the next 500 years rotting (very slowly) in landfills or choking up the oceans, proving that the smallest of changes can have a massive impact.

Promoting the hashtag #NoExcuseForSingleUse we hope to encourage other businesses to join us in tackling plastic pollution by banning disposable cups for good.

And it’s not just our environmental impact that we’re taking steps to improve...

As part of our commitment to making a positive difference in the local community, in October last year we entered a three-year partnership with Dallaglio RugbyWorks, becoming the founding partner in the West Midlands of Lawrence Dallaglio's charity which supports vulnerable young people and helps get them into sustained education, employment or training.

Together, these initiatives give our company and our staff the opportunity to help the local community and protect our planet – both incredibly important causes that we’re proud to champion.

And throughout 2019 we’ll be looking for even more opportunities to give a little something back to the world around us.
